Court orders new hearing for fired Senate HR director who alleged racial discrimination
A Federal Court justice says the Senate, in 2015, didn’t hit the mark in procedural fairness before firing Darshan Singh, the first racialized person to hold an executive job in the Upper Chamber’s administration.
Conservative Senator Leo Housakos was the Speaker of the Senate in 2015. ‘Having decided that the allegations of discrimination were serious enough to investigate, the Speaker was bound to respect the basic principles of fairness,’ according to the Federal Court.
