Liberal MPs want Trudeau to take on Quebec’s Bill 21, say he risks losing Grits’ base

Pollster Nik Nanos says Bill 21 is like a political 'stink bomb' for Justin Trudeau because it's popular in Quebec, which is a key building block for Liberal electoral fortunes. But if Trudeau takes any action against the law, the Liberals will lose support in the province and if he doesn't, Canadians in the rest of Canada will be disappointed.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, pictured on Jan. 12, 2022, in Ottawa. Prior to the Christmas parliamentary recess, Trudeau said in the House that he was 'deeply' opposed to the law but didn’t want to intervene, as doing so would give the Quebec government an opportunity to use the issue as a wedge against the federal government.
