NATO, nukes, and a time to act
Canada can be a leader in pushing NATO to drop its hostility towards the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
With new ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, right, and National Defence, Anita Anand, the time is ripe to push for the elimination of nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, the biggest hurdles in our path are the nuclear dogma of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and a lack of political will to push for change, write Lloyd Axworthy and Paul Meyer.
