It's worth another look. Workers, pictured in June 2021, excavating through bedrock 20 metres deep to clear space for construction of the new welcome centre complex. To do this, the Vaux Wall and staircase leading to Centre Block were dismantled, but are set to return fully restored. The massive restoration and modernization of the Centre Block is expected to cost between $4.5-billion and $5-billion, and is expected to be completed by 2030-31, according Public Services and Procurement Canada.
