McKenna to fight climate change ‘outside’ of federal politics, says she’s done what she ‘came to do’ after two terms heading environment, infrastructure
First elected in 2015, the Liberal MP and cabinet minister is heading for the exit as speculation around a snap election heats up. Catherine McKenna first served as environment minister before being shuffled into the infrastructure file in 2019.
Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna cycled along Rideau Canal Western Pathway to meet reporters on June 28, where she announced she would not be running for re-election in Ottawa-Centre, Ont. Ms. McKenna was first elected in 2015, after which she soon became environment minister, a post she held until 2019 when she switched to the infrastructure file.
