Leaders, committees, and floor-crossing: Senate faces tough choices post-election
Liberal Senate retirements could be a 'pivot point' that decides whether or how the Senate is reshaped in 2020, says ISG Sen. Elaine McCoy.
Independent Senator and ISG facilitator Yuen Pau Woo, left, will face a leadership review in the next few months. Conservative Senators David Wells, second from left, and Don Plett, far right, are contesting the leadership of the Conservative Senate caucus on Tuesday. Liberal Senate Leader Joseph Day, centre, will retire in January. Senate Speaker George Furey has now served four years in the role, and the PMO wouldn't say last week whether he would be asked to stay on as Speaker at the start of the new Parliament.
