Ford government’s move to withdraw support for resettlement of asylum seekers ‘short-sighted,’ says Vaughan
Ottawa and Quebec agreed to set up a triage system that would help to, for example, identify where the pressures in the housing system are most acute and to react immediately to resolve the issue. The federal government has been interested in setting up the system in Ontario, too.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford's office announced on Thursday that the government will not co-operate with Ottawa on the resettlement of asylum seekers. Mr. Ford tweeted this photo after their meeting with the caption, 'Had a productive first official meeting with Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau this afternoon. I restated my commitment to stand side-by-side with our federal counterparts in the ongoing NAFTA negotiations.' Photograph courtesy of Doug Ford's Twitter
