Senate committee split on amendment to delay cannabis bill
Paring down recommendations from four committees will be a ‘test of wills’ for members of Social Affairs, says Sen. Jim Munson.
Conservative Senator Dennis Patterson, left, says he is confident all five Conservatives on the Senate Social Affairs Committee will support recommending that the government's cannabis bill, C-45, be amended to delay implementation by a year, and outlaw in-home growth of cannabis. Independent Senator Ratna Omidvar said she is still considering all of the recommendations brought to Social Affairs by the other Senate committees studying the bill, and Liberal Senator Jim Munson said he won't support delaying implementation by a year.
