Re: "Three ways for aboriginal and non-aboriginal Canadians to work together towards reconciliation," (The Hill Times online, Aug. 8). Marv Bernstein’s recommended first step on the road to reconciliation is to adopt the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC)’s call for provinces to develop age-appropriate educational curriculum on residential schools, treaties, and indigenous peoples’ historical and contemporary contributions. KAIROS Canada is leading the charge on this, as part of its Winds of Change campaign, encouraging Canadians to press their provincial governments to fully adopt TRC Call #62.i through a petition and meetings with representatives. As Senator Murray Sinclair has said: "Education is what got us into this mess—the use of education at least in terms of residential schools—but education is the key to reconciliation." If Canadians are serious about reconciliation, adopting this critical call should be our top priority. Cheryl McNamara KAIROS Canada Toronto, Ont.
