Studies have shown that when immigrants come to this country, they are two times less likely to have poor health than a white Canadian.  The immigration screening process ensures that we have healthy recruits. However, by seven years, immigrants are two times more likely to have poor health. More than 10 per cent of an immigrant’s health has deteriorated in that time. This is an incredible waste of potential. Photograph courtesy of Commons Wikimedia
