Canada’s future is in renewable energy, time to step it up

There is also huge potential in Canada for more efficient energy use and building construction. Efficiency is the best new fuel, and by reducing our energy needs, we make it easier to transition to renewable energy sources.

Solar, pictured, and wind power have been criticized because they provide intermittent power, when most grids demand dependable base power sources that can be called on whenever needed. Energy storage systems are being developed to get around this problem, but solar and wind power can be used right now as an adjunct to hydro and other energy sources. Alberta Conservative MPs ‘walking a fine line’ on politically explosive referendum issue, and don’t want to give it more oxygen, say politicos

NewsBY ABBAS RANA, JESSE CNOCKAERT
  • Nearly all Alberta Conservative MPs are declining to comment on the province's separation talk, saying they do not want to give it more oxygen, and don't want to undermine Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre's chances of forming government in the next election. Pollsters say the issue should be taken very seriously.
