Re: “IHRA definition no smokescreen: HonestReporting,” (The Hill Times, July 13, p. 8). It is ironic that, in a recent letter, the executive director of an organization that calls itself “HonestReporting,” Mike Fegelman, would write such a blatantly dishonest letter. He quotes only a small part of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) statement on Canada and omitting what follows. The first sentence that he quoted is so vague that it could include almost anything, even praise of Jews and Jewish institutions. The meat of the IHRA statement is a list of examples intended to guide others in their use of its proposed definition of anti-Semitism. The first example is “targeting the state of Israel.” Many of the other examples are about criticism of Israel.
