As a national security observer, I continue to be quite concerned about the social unrest that may occur during and after the U.S. presidential election scheduled for Nov. 3, and the possible negative impacts on Canada. Vigilance at the border with the United States is a vital national interest and we must prepare for any number of possible scenarios including a partial breakdown of society in some U.S. states during and after the election.
