NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is in trouble in public opinion polls and has been for months. He’s facing fundraising challenges, unfavourable media coverage, and limited visibility, but he could lean on his caucus more. He could let the stars do the leg work in the House while he travels the country to communicate his party’s message. He should be showcasing some of the stronger players in his 41-member caucus team in the House in order to not only win seats in the next election but to hold onto the ones he’s got right now. He needs a Rat Pack in the House to help keep the party relevant and to give it some much-needed profile. It worked for the Liberals under John Turner in 1984, and it can work for the NDP under Jagmeet Singh today.
