When Canadians think about the nuclear industry, they may conjure up images of troubles half a world away. Rarely, I think, do many understand the role of the nuclear industry right here at home. The nuclear industry spans so many activities. They include uranium mining in Saskatchewan, fuel processing in Ontario, power generation in Ontario and New Brunswick, not to mention radioisotope production and use for sterilization in hospitals across Canada and the world for cancer therapy and medical imaging, and the supply chains for engineering, construction, manufacturing, plant operations, waste and decommissioning that are in every province and territory.
