Re: Neve’s suggestion regarding immigration to Canada undermines security (The Hill Times, July 23). In his op-ed responding to one I penned for The Globe and Mail on July 11, Phil Gurski implies that a fair and just system for processing visitor visa applications to Canada would amount to throwing caution to the wind and opening the floodgates to potential security threats. He asks: “Is Neve seriously of the opinion that Canada has no interest in vetting potential visitors who may in fact be terrorists and who may intend us harm? Really? So we should just hang out the welcome sign and allow anyone to come to our fair land?”
