For almost two years, the No. 1 story of the top 10 “most-read,” of “all time” stories on National Newswatch had been “Ford sorry for crudeness as wife looks on,” published Nov. 14, 2013 by The Canadian Press. It was an unforgettable story about Toronto mayor Rob Ford when he used crude language to deny allegations that he told a female aide he was going to have oral sex with her and then denied he’d ever had sex with her, telling surprised reporters in a scrum, whilst wearing a Toronto Argonauts uniform with ‘Mayor Ford’ in white letters on the back, that, “I’ve never said that in my life to her, I would never do that. I’m happily married. I’ve got more than enough to eat at home.” Good lord.
