On April 30, a healthy showing of the Parliamentary Press Gallery gathered at the Chateau Laurier Hotel along with lobbyists, strategists and supporters to celebrate and reflect on press freedom over lunch. This year’s gathering had enhanced significance following the particularly bloody year for journalists worldwide. Another 221 journalists were jailed and 119 were kidnapped.
