I am glad Liberal MP Yasir Naqvi is seriously considering seeking leadership of the Ontario Liberals and I hope he makes it. He has solid experience at the provincial level, holding three cabinet positions during former premier Kathleen Wynne’s government, and he represented his riding well as an MPP before, and now as an MP. I still remember very well when I met his parents during a campaign and I told them he is a front runner as a Liberal Party leader and perhaps even premier of Ontario. He is a Carleton University graduate, like me, and I’ve met him several times and also worked as a volunteer during his campaigns both at the provincial and federal level. The only thing I can say to him is: do not promise everything under the sun, including the sun—it simply will not work. Use simple language that connects to people because it resonates with voters and they will understand, knowing you are doing the best you can. Also, remember what former United States President Barack Obama said, that the election is not about you—it is all about people you are going to represent and listen to understand, not just to respond. This is solid advice. I hope Naqvi becomes the next Ontario Liberal leader. A former MP I met once told me this: "I will do my very best without breaking the law," and have faith in me and believe in me. And I did, and you cannot ask any better. Anant Nagpur Ottawa, Ont.
