According to Statistics Canada, 75 per cent of Canadians report having used the internet more often since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly every Canadian between the ages of 15 and 34 said that they used the internet more frequently, and younger children spent far more time online as a result of school closures—children in Ontario alone spent about 220 days learning fully remotely. Just as the pandemic dramatically altered Canadians’ routines, our increased reliance on technology shifted the nature of bullying.
