MPs, including 197 rookies, returned to Ottawa last week after a six-week break and most are promising to strike a whole new tone in this new 42nd Parliament. So far they are, but it’s also a little boring, unfortunately. MPs should realize they can heckle in the Commons; they just don’t need to be nasty and mean. MPs in the British House of Commons seem to be better at heckling. They’re good at it and they’re funny. Our MPs should try to inject more humour, wit, and passion into their questions and answers in the House and not just during the 45-minute Question Period.
