Policy Briefing: Conservative Policy Convention

It’s party time: your guide to being a Conservative convention social maven

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says the convention is an opportunity for the party to say thank you to a city that is by and large a stalwart party supporter.
There are 82 proposed policy resolutions and 65 proposed constitutional amendments up for debate during the national convention, which will be held in Calgary June 27 to 29.
But Tory MP John Duncan says any other process would divide the party at a time when it really doesn’t need to be divided.
One of the most controversial issues on the convention floor will be the redistribution of ridings and having to help new riding associations financially, say political insiders.
‘Sometimes you’ve got to go down pretty far before you bounce back up,’ says Keith Beardsley.
