Trudeau makes it official and Liberals riding a wave of voter interest, 30,000 outside party sign up for leadership election

With Liberal MP Justin Trudeau’s front-runner leadership bid underway, Liberals are riding a wave of voter interest in the leadership race that could further boost Mr. Trudeau’s chances of becoming the party’s choice to take on Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservatives as well as the NDP in the next federal election.

Youth vote: Liberal MP Justin Trudeau ended months of speculation when he announced on Tuesday night in his Montreal riding that he will run for the Liberal leadership. LIberals say 30,000 have signed up from outside the party to vote in the leadership election as party 'supporters.' Liberal clubs at universities are the main drivers over the past month, signing up 5,000.
