Indigenous and Northern Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett says recently announced funding for indigenous mental health services will make an "immediate" difference in communities such as the Attawapiskat First Nation in northern Ontario, which this year made headlines because of a suicide epidemic among its youth. However, she said the $69-million in funding, announced last week, is just one part of creating hope for people in these communities, and that "adequate housing, water, and quality education" are also needed.
