NDP could be in for divisive Israel-Palestine debate

The NDP leadership, including foreign policy critic Hélène Laverdière, pictured, would likely prefer a less-strident resolution being sent to the party's convention this week than one on Israeli-Palestinian relations that appears to have support from more than 23 riding associations.
What should the government do when a bilateral trade pact violates other aspects of Canadian policy or existing international commitments?

Either abide by the UNSC resolution 2334 and run the risk of angering the powerful Israel lobby in Canada or ignore the UNSC 2334 and run the risk of being called out by other countries for hypocritically seeking membership in a body whose binding resolutions he patently flouts. Let’s see what he does.
