They should be commended for coming together and standing up for Canadian values of human rights, peace, and democracy. They did what is in the best interest for Canada and Iranians.
Warnings about rising hate have been largely disregarded by federal and provincial governments, emboldening those who peddle in hate and leaving them unchecked and able to spread their message further across the country.
Organized anti-Semitism is increasing. Canada must follow Sweden's example and invest in confronting anti-Semitism to a greater degree.

Canadian hate crime statistics show that Jews have remained the most targeted group of faith-based hate crimes for more than a decade. In the United States Jews accounted for close to 60 per cent of all religious-based hate crime in 2014, while studies show European Jews, targeted by rising antisemitic hatred, are emigrating in unprecedented numbers.
