The Conservatives can reintroduce themselves to Canadians as a pragmatic, problem-solving party which is environmentally responsible, has a pan-Canadian perspective and effective policies to address poverty and reduce income inequality. That would be an outcome good for Canadian democracy as well as for the Conservative Party.

The special committee was created through a Conservative motion that was backed by the Liberals, Bloc, and NDP. Nearly half of the members of the committee are members of the International Trade Committee.
