As U.S. President Barack Obama approaches the last two years of his presidency, Canadian legislators and policymakers should look to the Republican-dominated Congress in strengthening the Canada-U.S. relationship and stop focusing on the logjam surrounding the XL Keystone pipeline, former Quebec premier Jean Charest and John Manley, who served as deputy prime minister in Jean Chrétien’s government, advised during a panel discussion last Tuesday at Carleton University.
