The dawning realization by the Liberal government that health care is the priority for most Canadians should begin the process of reform of the medicare system, now long overdue. The increasing frequency of doctor shortages, work stoppages by medical professionals, a lack of hospital beds, long waits for treatment, soaring costs of prescription drugs and closures of health care facilities are common themes across the country these days. Canadians are ready for change and it seems their leaders have gotten the message.
