
Sound government policy should be shaped by a balance of perspectives—not simply those found within Canada's National Capital Region. In order for policy-makers in the federal public service to benefit from external perspectives, they must connect with Canadians on a regular basis to better serve them. As Canada enters a period of fiscal restraint, the ability of the public service to maintain this connection to Canadians may be at risk.
