Forget state funeral for last WWI vet, make Remembrance Day a stat holiday

A full state funeral for the last WWI veteran will be a disservice to both John Babcock and to all that Remembrance Day has come to stand for in Canada.

In the last few years we have seen a surge of heartfelt recognition for the veterans who served this country in time of war. Whereas once there was fear that Remembrance Day would gradually fade from our collective consciousness Canadians are instead going out of their way to pay tribute to those who served and died for this country.

In the last few years we have seen a surge of heartfelt recognition for the veterans who served this country in time of war. Whereas once there was fear that Remembrance Day would gradually fade from our collective consciousness Canadians are instead going out of their way to pay tribute to those who served and died for this country.
