Former Liberal MP Stronach holds paralympic gala

Former Liberal MP Belinda Stronach held a fundraising cocktail reception at the Magna Golf Club recently and helped raise $200,000 for the Canadian Paralympic Foundation. Ms. Stronach, her father Frank, chair of board for auto-parts giant Magna International, and Liberal Senator Joyce Fairbairn were the honorary chairs of the event. Liberal Senator Rod Zimmer, chair of the Foundation, told the Senate last week that the funds raised will go toward Canada's paralympic team during the Vancouver paralympics in February. Sen. Zimmer thanked Magna for their sponsorship and said he hopes the paralympic athletes "realize all of their dreams at the Olympics, for they are our true heroes."
