The House Finance Committee will have heard from approximately 150 groups and organizations from across the country by the end of this week on its pre-budget consultations, but MPs say the mood has been bleak as groups have lowered their "asks" and have not provided substantive visions for the country, given the government's signal that next spring's budget will not contain a second stimulus package even though Canada has not fully recovered from the global economic downturn.
