Prime Minister Stephen Harper's 2008 campaign, which some critics are calling an "iron bubble," can be compared to former prime minister Pierre Trudeau's winning 1980 "peekaboo" campaign, but others, including Liberals, say Mr. Harper has managed his message "brilliantly" and plans to win the election independent of the media.
