MPs, PM, Opposition Leader get 2.3 per cent boost to salaries

Members of the House of Commons now earn base salary of $144,300, up from $141,000 last year

MPs received a 2.3 per cent pay hike on April 1 bringing their annual base salary to $144,300 up from $141,000. The recent increase brought the salary of Prime Minister Paul Martin (LaSalle-Émard, Que.) up to $288,600 and the salaries of the Leader of the Official Opposition, Cabinet ministers and the Speaker of the House to $213,500.

MPs received a 2.3 per cent pay hike on April 1 bringing their annual base salary to $144,300 up from $141,000. The recent increase brought the salary of Prime Minister Paul Martin (LaSalle-Émard, Que.) up to $288,600 and the salaries of the Leader of the Official Opposition, Cabinet ministers and the Speaker of the House to $213,500.
