There was a letter in The Hill Times a few months back, pointing to the need to "Canadianize our immigration system." In light of our newfound patriotism, I would like to champion this cause: unlike the United States, where people are "Americans first," here in Canada we have the problem of ethnic enclaves. People are not primarily Canadian as their ethnic identity often trumps their Canadian one. Some people in the federal government contend they are mainly "Canadians of convenience."
