Canadians shouldn't ignore democratic deficit, says Conacher
Re: "Pakistan's struggling with a real democratic deficit, we should really stop whining about ours," (The Hill Times, Nov. 9, p. 10). While it is not surprising to see Sheila Copps argue that Canadians should ignore undemocratic deficiencies in Canada's political system, it is still disappointing—especially because she ignores several major deficiencies at the federal level, and completely ignores problems with provincial, territorial and municipal governments.
