Firearms registry won't save lives, say some readers

Re: "Gun owners must register guns, period," (The Hill Times, Letters to the Editor, May 11, p. 11). Suzanne Laplante Edward's letter is poignant in a couple of respects. As the mother of one of the victims of a tragic incident she is entitled to be heard, and to whatever opinions she holds. Ms. Laplante Edward has my deepest respect and sympathy, but those would subvert her pain to their own political ends do not share the same moral authority.

Re: "Gun owners must register guns, period," (The Hill Times, Letters to the Editor, May 11, p. 11). Suzanne Laplante Edward's letter is poignant in a couple of respects. As the mother of one of the victims of a tragic incident she is entitled to be heard, and to whatever opinions she holds. Ms. Laplante Edward has my deepest respect and sympathy, but those would subvert her pain to their own political ends do not share the same moral authority.
