Just as with the global financial crisis, many people have their heads firmly planted in the sand about how devastating it is. This bus strike has been and continues to be, to the people of the city of Ottawa, a hardship of outrageous proportions. Ask the people who have lost jobs due to lack of transportation. Ask the poor who cannot get to grocery stores, pharmacies and doctors. Ask the seniors. Ask essential service workers like nurses who cannot get to their essential service jobs at the hospitals. Ask students who cannot make it to labs and will fail exams their terms and perhaps the year.
