Travesty is a strong word, but hardly adequate to describe Canada's lack of commitment to attaining the point seven benchmark. Some 29,000 children under five die each and every day of disease and poverty-related causes. Over 100 million kids have never seen the inside of a school house. More than 2 million people die of TB yearly and almost 3 million from the scourge that is malaria. Nearly 40 million are infected with HIV.
