Regarding "A reality check on the gun registry" by Wendy Cukier, (The Hill Times, March 31). Dr. Cukier cites six reasons why Canadians should continue to support the gun registry as implemented under Bill C-68. While Dr. Cukier's efforts to increase public safety have everyone's best interests at heart, I do not believe that any means justify a noble end. Given the recent addition of $59-million and an additional $113-million expected for fiscal 2003, it is important to discredit the registry on two points.
