In this week’s Hill Times, former Liberal Cabinet minister Don Boudria is calling for the Conservative government to change the House rules to prevent “frivolous” amendments at report stage of the legislative process. He thinks what happened in June, with more than 1,000 amendments, and 24 hours of roll call voting, could become a regular occurrence but probably shouldn’t be happening.
