He had been nominated by the Writers' Trust in 2006 for his book Citizen of the World: The Life of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Volume 1: 1919-1968, but lost that year to Max and Monique Memni who also wrote about Trudeau in their book Young Trudeau: Son of Quebec, Father of Canada, 1919-1944. But last Wednesday was his night. He won the $25,000 award at the annual Politics and the Pen gala event on March 10 held at the Chateau Laurier for his book, Just Watch Me: The Life of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Volume 2: 1968-2000.
