Author connects dots in Harper government's overtures to religious right in public policy, courting theo-cons

Marci McDonald's new book suggests Stephen Harper is using religion as a wedge issue and fears it could lead to polarization.

Marci McDonald, author of The Armageddon Factor: The Rise of Christian Nationalism in Canada, said when she started researching for her explosive new book she really had to dig. But since its release all she's had to do is pick up a newspaper to see examples of the Harper government making overtures to the religious right in its public policy, from its decision to exclude abortion from its maternal health initiative, to its cancellation of funding for gay pride events.
