Headed by Liberal MP Judy Sgro, the Prime Minister's Task Force on Urban Issues released its interim report last week on Parliament Hill. Members of the task force, who are effectively looking for a blueprint for Canada's strategy on larger cities for the 21st century, talked to more than 700 people, including city mayors, city planners, university professors, city councillors, city transit experts, environmentalists and more. They met weekly in Ottawa to consult with cabinet ministers and departmental staff. They did good work.
