Alberta Tory MPs lining up behind Kenney in provincial leadership race

Jason Kenney served as the MP for Calgary Midnapore and Calgary Southeast for 19 years before leaving Parliament last year to pursue the leadership of Alberta's Progressive Conservative Party, the beginning of a bid to unite the province's two conservative parties. Mr. Kenney's next test is to try and win the Oct. 28 election of the first leader of the new United Conservative Party.     British Columbia's new premier John Horgan dropped in to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Mr. Trudeau's Centre Block office on Parliament Hill for the first time July 25. They may not see eye to eye on the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain oil pipeline expansion (Trudeau approved it, Horgan campaigned against it), but when it comes to wardrobe choices, these two are simpatico.     From July 24 to 28, 2017, Canada is hosting a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in Toronto. The meeting is the third of the year and will bring together business leaders from Canada and other Asia-Pacific economies on matters related to trade and economic cooperation and connectivity in the APEC region in advance of the APEC leaders’ meeting in Vietnam in November. Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, parliamentary secretary to the trade minister, will attend the meeting and speak.
