Best World Press Photos of 2015 exhibit comes to Canadian War Museum

Warren Richardson's photograph won the best photo of the year. The prize goes to ‘the photographer whose visual creativity and skills made a picture that captures or represents an event or issue of great journalistic importance in the last year.’

World Press Photo of the Year ‘Hope for a New Life’ taken on August 28, 2015. A baby is handed through a hole in a razor wire barrier, to a Syrian refugee who has already managed to cross the border from Serbia into Hungary, near Röszke. This image also won the first prize for spot news singles. The photographer said he had to use the moonlight to capture the image because a flash would have given away their location to police.
