Hunter Tootoo

No one-size-fits-all approach to addiction

Is there some juicy story that precipitated Hunter Tootoo’s departure from cabinet and the Liberal caucus? I don’t know, but I do know everyone who struggles with addictions handles their public reveal, if they have one, as they see fit.

When Liberal MP Seamus O'Regan, left, checked into a rehab in December, he received the full support from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the time. Mr. O'Regan successfully completed his 40-day rehab in January. Former fisheries minister Hunter Tootoo resigned abruptly on May 31 to seek professional help to address addiction issues.
