Butts reached out first to Mulroney, Garneau asks former PM to come brief Canada-U.S. Cabinet Committee on Trump

When U.S. President Donald Trump got elected on Nov. 8, Gerald Butts reached out to Brian Mulroney who helped arrange Stephen Schwarzman’s briefing to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet last month. And Mr. Mulroney played a key role in making Mr. Trudeau's trip to Washington, D.C. a success. The two talk frequently about Canada-U.S. relations.

Blind cabinet minister promises Canada’s first national accessibility legislation will have teeth, could be retroactive

Sport and Disability Minister Carla Qualtrough, who is blind, is helping to draft a new bill to address accessibility for people with disabilities. Sport and Disability Minister Carla Qualtrough, a former Paralympian and human rights lawyer, will be introducing Canada's first national accessibility legislation next spring which she hopes will be a game-changer for federal employers and people with disabilities.

    The fourth party-sanctioned debate will be held on Feb. 28 at Maclab Theatre in Edmonton, and will be the second bilingual debate. Tickets on sale from Jan. 24. Debates will be streamed live online for all party members and all Canadians to see. All debates are open to Conservative Party members to attend. Debate moderator: Conservative candidate for Calgary Midnapore Stephanie Kusie. Themes include: crime and safety, and the Conservative Party of Canada, its membership, its governance, and its future. The Conservative Party leadership election will be on May 27, 2017.
