Liberals signal intent to get ‘back into action on health policy’: Naylor

The new government’s health-care policies and focus on innovation, as pitched during the election campaign, are encouraging signs says David Naylor.

Rookie GTA MP Jane Philpott, also a medical doctor, is Canada’s new Health minister. One of the more than 30 recommendations in the 164-page Naylor report was for the federal government to create an arm’s-length federal health care innovation fund with a 10-year mandate to spend an annual $1-billion budget investing in projects aimed at improving the health-care system in Canada. Comparatively, the Liberals have promised to develop a ‘pan-Canadian collaboration on health innovation.’ The Hill Times photograph by Jake Wright
